Marketing Communications Director

SPEAR’S Marketing Communications Director is a multi-talented individual who is ready to help lead external and internal communications, creative vision, brand identity and design aesthetics for our company. This position will also help guide the overall marketing strategy and manage additional marketing projects as needed.

 

Organization Structure and Interfaces          

Primary relationships:  Physician liaison(s), clinical directors, physical therapists, program directors, marketing & design partners, industry groups, associations, patient groups, local and national events, press, organizations and alliances.

 

Position Responsibilities

Communications

Manage all internal and external company communications

  • Establish, own and drive a strategic internal and external communications strategy that positively affects employees’ and customers’ understanding, engagement and commitment with the result of an even stronger connection to the company and leads to a return on investment
  • Talented copywriter with an engaging, interactive storytelling style
  • Proactively promote Spear using all marketing channels
  • Create and manage copy for all internal and external print and digital materials
  • Create and distribute monthly external content rich e-newsletter uniquely tailored to engage specific target audiences
  • Create and design quarterly internal SPEAR newsletters to promote the company culture, keep employees well informed of important internal and external topics
  • Write press releases, internal announcements, job postings, invitations, articles and success stories
  • Grow brand awareness
  • Keep company website fresh and up to date
  • Create an engaging interactive blog that is informational and useful to unique audiences
  • Plan and lead robust social media campaigns to achieve targeted outcomes
  • Create marketing presentations for stakeholders
  • Obtain necessary consent and provide final approval on all marketing collateral, products and promotions

Creative Design

  • Clearly convey their concepts to creative and production teams, as well agency partners and stakeholders
  • Develop concepts and produce the layout, design and copywriting for new print and digital marketing collateral as needed, while meeting SPEAR’s branding messages and guidelines
  • Create on-demand print and digital design edits to existing marketing collateral
  • Develop & design all SPEAR promo items and apparel
  • Lead development, design and updating of all SPEAR print material, promo items and apparel in coordination with new facility launches
  • Create and maintain SPEAR Digital Asset Library (video/photo)
  • Oversee design and production of office external & internal signage, awards & press display

Project Management

  • Manage and maintain inventory of all marketing material and promotional items
  • Determine projects, which should be completed internally and externally. Manage relationships with outside vendors as necessary
  • Establish streamlined internal ordering process for all print materials and promo items
  • Manage production schedule and ensure timely requests for artwork
  • Determine project content and manage development of art and copy materials—both original and drafted by vendors
  • Develop pricing and budgeting strategies
  • Present and secure approval for final layouts
  • Recommend and help select vendors, manage all outsourced projects to ensure quality, timeliness, budget adherence and relationships
  • Provide status updates to management

 

Position Requirements

  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present recommendations and ideas to summarize complex issues
  • Expert copywriting skills
  • Expert on what's new and now
  • Professional and positive approach, self motivated, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Desktop Publishing: Adobe Applications Suite – InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, iWorks, Content Management systems, PageMaker,  web design and word press, project management tools etc.
  • Business related computer skills including strong working knowledge with PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Five years of relevant Marketing Communications experience
  • Has a portfolio of work to present
  • Able to analyze marketing trends, but they also need to make cost-saving decisions for production
  • Strong business analytics and problem solving skills
  • Effectively work with senior leadership
  • Well organized and detailed oriented
  • Four year degree in communications, journalism or marketing
